- Today the Willowdale Young Liberals went on the first of their three weekly Wednesday canvasses to Vaughan. Along with MPP David Zimmer and his staffers, we canvassed passionately for OLP Nominee Steven Del Duca. We were met with a fantastic, warm response in the riding, and are looking forward to coming back.
Come join us on our next two canvasses Wednesday, August 22nd and Wednesday, August 29th. Sign up here

Kitchener-Waterloo - Last weekend, our three delegates Tom, Alia and Kassim attended the Willowdale Young Liberals' first summer fling at Sir Wilfred Laurier University in Waterloo. We had been nominated for Best New Club this year and were also presenting a policy co-authored with several other OYL clubs,“Education Equality: Maximizing
the Potential of our Students and Ending Religious Discrimination in our Schools”.
This year marked the 10th anniversary of Summer Fling. Guest speakers at the event included Borys Wrzesnewskyj, Mike Crawley, Jim Karygiannis, Glen Murray, Yasir Naqvi, Dalton Mcguinty and Eric Davis, who founded Summer Fling a decade ago at Wilfred Laurier University, and is now the OLP candidate for Kitchener-Waterloo.
After debating for many hours, the policies that passed were “Provincial Safe Injection Site”, “RESTART Ontario: Bold Steps for a Bright Tomorrow”, “LED Street Lights Should be Installed Throughout Canada”, and “Reforming Canada’s ‘Arcane’ Foreign Credential Accreditation Policies”. Congratulations to all the clubs that had their policies passed!
Scarborough - Today was the Toronto Region Policy Parliament, a conference of Young Liberals in Toronto on policy development. Each riding club
presented a maximum of two federal, and two provincial policies, which were then voted on with the top four advancing to the Ontario Young Liberals annual policy convention, the Summer Fling. The Willowdale Young Liberals presented two policies, "Ending Religious Discrimination in Ontario Schools"
by Rishabh and Tom, and the "Safe Injection Site Toronto Act"
by Kaleem. "Ending Religious Discrimination in Ontario Schools" was passed by the TRPP and will proceed to the Summer Fling, This year it will take place the weekend of August 10-12 at Wilfred Laurier University in Waterloo.
We look forward to presenting our policy there and hope to see many of you in Waterloo!
Last month, an Ontario Superior Court justice threw out the results of last year's general election in Etobicoke-Center, opening the door for a by-election to reinstate long-standing MP and community leader Borys Wrzesnewskyj
However, the conservatives did not want to face the constituents of Etobicoke-Center (where according to the latest poll done by forum research
Mr. Wrzesnewskyj enjoys a 10-point lead
over incumbent Ted Opitz) and appealed the case.
The Supreme Court of Canada is set to hear the case sometime next month after extending their current session.
However, they will most likely deny the appeal, given the extremely low victory margin (26 votes) and widespread allegations of electoral mistakes and fraud. This will spark a by-election within 6 months.
The Willowdale Young Liberals are preparing for that outcome, and are actively canvassing in Etobicoke-Center with Team Borys. If you are available to come out and help please note your availability on this form
or email us
We appreciate your support in returning Etobicoke-Center to its natural red state! ;)
